Hi, I'm Kat 👋
I'm the artist behind The Painting Pixie, specialising in professional face painting for children's parties, weddings, festivals and community events across Sussex and Surrey.
It started the way a lot of these things do — painting a butterfly on my own daughter's cheek for a birthday party because I couldn't find anyone available on the day. By the end of the afternoon I'd painted twelve more faces for the other kids at the party, and I was hooked.
Since then I've painted at everything from village fetes to 200-guest weddings, and I still get the same buzz every single time a child catches their reflection for the first time and their whole face lights up.
My goal is simple — to create magical moments that children remember long after the paint has washed off. I love seeing the excitement when a child looks in the mirror for the first time!
I've worked at hundreds of events and pride myself on being calm, friendly and patient — especially with shy children or busy party environments. I've painted through toddler tantrums, sudden downpours at outdoor festivals, and the classic "I want to be a unicorn, no wait, a dinosaur, no wait, a unicorn-dinosaur" — and I genuinely love the chaos of it all.
Every design is created using high-quality, skin-safe professional paints, with a focus on speed, detail and lots of sparkle ✨
A Bit More About How I Work 🖌️
- I bring everything I need — paints, brushes, glitter, wipes, a mirror for the big reveal, and a stool or chair set-up if you don't have space
- I plan around your event, not the other way round — quick designs for queue-heavy parties, more detailed artwork for smaller, relaxed gatherings
- Patch tests available on request for children with sensitive skin, and all my paints are cosmetic-grade and fully skin-safe
- I keep a design book with me so shy or undecided children have something easy to point at, but I'm always happy to freestyle a request
